Market report for:
Chevrolet Corvettes 1984-1990
These corvettes are considered to be one of
the best car for the money buys on the market
today. The original purchase price of these
cars exceeded thirty thousand dollars and they
were hailed as world-class exotic cars competing
with the finest cars of their day. The down
side is high insurance rate as many drivers
were not able to safely control these cars and
the cars could out perform many drivers. Insurance
statistics should that higher then average percentage
of these cars will go off the road and hit things.
This can be a very important consideration for
some drivers.
1984 corvette, this first year of production
for a new body style is the least valuable.
This year has a reputation of a suspension that
was improved in future years but can cause problems.
What I have been told is that this poorer suspension
manifests itself only at very high speeds well
above any speed limit if you stay under 100
these cars drive fine.
Convertibles or roadsters as they are often
called were introduced to the line with a Indy
pace car in 1986 and as a regular option starting
in 1987.
Aftermarket companies offered special high
performance packages with Calloway and Greenwood
being the most famous. Chevy itself offered
the ZR1 package starting in 1990. If the special
option is known by most people that good and
the car will bring more money such as the two
examples given above it few people know of the
builder than it add only a small amount to the
value.
Low mileage and an untouched original excellent
condition car are the most desirable and command
a premium price but a low mileage car that has
had cosmetic work done to it does not get valued
higher than its present condition warrants the
lower mileage is not a factor.
