THIS 1957 BEL AIR WAS THE 137th 2 DOOR BODY PRODUCED IN THE OAKLAND CALIFORNIA G.M. PLANT IN 1957. IT WAS PURCHASED NEW IN SAN FRANCISCO IN 1957 AND REMAINED IN THE SAME FAMILY FOR 52 YEARS AND THREE GENERATIONS. THE GRANDSON OF THE ORIGINAL PURCHASER INHERITED THE CAR IN 1994 FROM HIS FATHER AND DROVE IT UNTIL 2000 AT WHICH TIME IT UNDERWENT A COMPLETE FRAME OFF, NUTS AND BOLTS,TWO YEAR RESTORATION AT BELL’S CLASSIC AUTO WORKS IN LODI CALIFORNIA, A TRI-FIVE RESTORATION SPECIALIST. IT WAS COMPLETED IN 2002. EVERYTHING ON THE CAR WAS BEAD BLASTED, INCLUDING THE BODY AND COMPONENT MECHANICAL PARTS BEFORE IT WAS PAINTED AND REASSEMBLED. THE WINDSHIELD, REAR GLASS, DOOR AND QUARTER WINDOW GLASS WAS ALL REPLACED. ALL CHROME WAS REDONE OR REPLACED,WITH THE BUMPERS BEING TRIPLE PLATED. ALL STAINLESS EXTERIOR TRIM WAS POLISHED OR REPLACED. CLOSE ATTENTION WAS PAID TO KEEPING THIS CAR AS IT APPEARED WHEN PURCHASED. THE CORRECT PAINT, UPHOLSTERY, AND HEADLINER WAS ALL REDONE TO MATCH THE FACTORY CODES REFLECTED ON THE COWL TAG. THE PAINT, CODE 808-A , IS THE VERY RARE IMPERIAL IVORY, OVER INCA SILVER. THE ENGINE IS THE CORRECT 283 CID WITH 230 HP WITH THE POWER PACK OPTION, FOUR BARREL CARBURETOR AND DUAL EXHAUST SYSTEM. THE CAR HAS BEEN STORED AND COVERED IN THE GARAGE, AND DRIVEN LESS THAN 600 MILES SINCE THE RESTORATION WAS COMPLETED.
