Description:    1972 Honda sl100 Preservation Rat Bike
I discovered this 1972 Honda sl100 laying on its side, behind a barn in 4 ft of grass in Tetonia, ID on 7/1/2021. It had not run since 1973 according to the farmer and to quote, will probably never run, and so began the journey. I stripped the bike down to the bare frame, sandblasted and painted it in the correct Cloud Silver, rebuilt the wheel bearings out, new brakes, wheel straps, tubes and tires. The engine was disassembled and completely rebuilt, valves lapped, new piston rings and all new gasketsand seals. I replaced the shorted wiring harness with a new old stock one. Front and rear sprockets and chain are new. I resealed the tank but left the existing patina because I liked it that way. The fenders and tank can be repainted and made perfect if you want but I like the patina. This was one of Honda's first dual sport bikes, it will cruise at 40-50 MPH all day long and climb hills like a mountain goat! Everything on this sl100 works as it should. No excuses, No surprises. Own a piece of Honda history!
