Description:
This is an excellent all-original, low mile, strong-running example of perhaps Jaguar's rarest production car from the Golden Age of Jaguar: this car is one of fewer than one-hundred Jaguar 420’s with 4-speed manual transmission and electric overdrive.
There were only about 10,000 420's made in a two-year run (’67-68), only about half of which were LHD imports into the U.S. My 420 is the rarest of all, fewer than one-hundred with 4-speed manual and electric Overdrive.
The 420 shares the same 4.2 liter DOHC engine used by the XKE, the first Jaguar sedan to incorporate the legendary XKE 4.2 liter motor. Combined with manual transmission, this car will embarrass many modern cars with 245 BHP at 5400 rpm and peak of 282 ft. lbs. torque at 4000 rpm. Super fun to drive, powerful, great handling and oh-so-stylish.
This car has 86,000 original miles. Sold new in San Francisco, it has spent it's entire life in California and Idaho. The car is completely rust-free, fresh and clean. Mechanically 100%, completely drip-free and dry. As my master Jaguar mechanic, who has worked on Jags since the early 1960's, says of the car: "it needs nothing".
Original color paint with a high-quality respray. Always garaged.
This is a great driver & solid #2 survivor collectible.
