The Mercury Eight was the first model to ever be produced by the Ford Motor Company's Mercury marque. Production for the Mercury Eight ran for 12 years, beginning in 1939 and discontinuing in 1951. Only 50,268 of the Mercury Eight model were sold in 1948.
This 1948 2-door Mercury Eight Convertible is finished in a lovely Barcelona Black with a brown interior and brown convertible top and boot. The interior features a sleek wood-grain dash with a center-mounted radio and gold instrument faces. The body is straight and tight and the interior very well preserved. The Mercury starts up with ease but will require a new water pump and may require some other mechanical and fuel system refreshing.
Other notable features of this automobile include: high style two-stage front grille, stainless steel front and rear fender trim, stainless steel belt line trim, front and rear bumper guards and wings, matching painted wheels, bright center caps and trim rings, wide whitewall tires, and a center-mounted radio. It also features a heater/defroster and twin ashtrays, a 6-volt electrical system. This is a Nevada car with original floorboards and trunk--ZERO RUST.
