Restored 1959 DeSoto Adventurer Hardtop. Black/ Gold exterior, "Fashion Vogue" white/gold/black interior, 383ci/350hp V8, dual 4BBL carbs, 3-speed Torqueflite automatic, swivel front seat, factory heater, power windows, push-button AM radio and more. Older professional restoration, engine rebuilt in 2013, all-original drivetrain.
Based on the upscale Fireflite series, the DeSoto Adventurer was the most luxurious offering from DeSoto, with a myriad of features and options available to the discerning customer. Available as a two-door hardtop or two-door convertible, the Adventurer was built on Chrysler's 126" wheelbase, with a near-limousine-length body that stretched 220" from nose to tail. As the halo car for the DeSoto marque, the Adventurer was outfitted with a number of state-of-the-art features like standard swivel seats and a load-leveling rear air suspension to compliment a "Torsion-Aire" torsion bar front suspension and provide the smoothest of rides. Adventurers were available with just one engine choice -- a dual 4BBL 383ci V8. The Adventurer V8 featured high-lift cams and was factory-rated at 350hp. All Adventurers were built with a 3-speed Torqueflite automatic with push-button control.This Adventurer retains an all-original drivetrain to compliment the correct engine, including the 3-speed Torqueflite automatic. The body shows is well-cared for condition with excellent panel fit and gaps, excellent brightwork, correct gold wheel covers and white wall tires.
Inside the cabin, this Adventurer showcases a correct tri-color Black/White/Gold "Fashion Vogue" interior with tri-color seats and nylon "Casino Corde" fabric. The standard-for-an-Adventurer swivel front seats work as designed, and the interior also features the correct push-button AM radio, optional Automatic Headlight Beam Changer, "Sure-Grip" steering wheel, factory heater and day/night MirrorMatic rear-view mirror.
