Description:    The Citroen Mehari is a light utility off-road vehicle produced by the French automaker Citroen and designed by French World War II fighter ace Count Roland de la Poype. The Citroen Mehari is a variant of the Citroen 2CV. During its twenty years of production (from 1968 to 1988) around 144,953 Meharis were manufactured. Meharis were created with the intent that they would be used for racing or transport, thus Citroen produced these models with ABS plastic bodies and soft tops. The cars power came from a 602 cc flat twin gasoline engine which was also used in the 2CV6 Citroen Ami. From 1980-1983 some four-wheel drive versions of the Mehari were produced. Due to its light body (just a mere 1,260 pounds) and interconnected fully-independent 2CV suspension, this car was an excellent and agile off-road vehicle. Our car is in remarkable condition for its age. Most Meharis have long ago become brittle and cracked. This car needs minor cosmetics but is mechanically and structurally solid and an absolute blast to drive. It goes highway speeds and gets fantastic mileage (50 mpg). You will be a hit at the beach! Parts are all available both through the clubs and private sellers. These cars are a delight to own and enjoy. A fabulous advertising or conversation piece. Buy this car and be happy.
