Description:
The Plymouth Deluxe was produced by the Plymouth division of Chrysler from 1946 to 1950. This full-size automobile was offered in several models including a 2-Door sedan, 4-Door sedan, 2-Door club coupe, 2-Door convertible and 4-Door station wagon. Since it had been 4 years since any new cars had been built, consumers were thrilled by the beauty and versatility that the Plymouth Deluxe had to offer.
Plymouth literature claims that there were “fifty improvements over the prewar cars”, however many were quite minor. Some more significant changes included an increased rpm (3600rpm instead of 3400rpm), a smaller intake manifold and aluminum pistons.
This matching-numbers car originated from Hoquiam, Washington. The 1st owner had the car for over 5 decades and it was stored in a barn for about 30 years. The second owner had the vehicle for about six months. Finally, the third owner had the car for 11 years. After owning it for little over a decade, the third owner decided to bring it to Tacoma, Washington to be sold the Lucky Collector Car Auction.
This Plymouth is in lovely condition with the original flat-head 6 cylinder motor and about 84,000 original miles. The car still has the original 6-volt wiring system. The car was repainted and the interior was redone while the car was in the care of the first owner. Since then, the tires and wheels have been replaced, however the Plymouth does still have its original tires and hubcaps. Throughout its life in Washington State the entire braking system was rebuilt, the carb was rebuilt and all wiring was check. The car has a beautiful red and grey interior and would certainly make for a nice Sunday cruiser.
