Description:    Envious of the success that Ford was having with its car/truck, the Ranchero of 1957, Chevrolet struck back with its new El Camino model in 1959. Originally based on the Impala, the half car, half truck El Camino survived for only two years, but reappeared in 1964 based on the Chevelle. This 1966 model has undergone some significant modifications. The customized treatment of the car starts up front with a 1967 El Camino nose, and a 1965 Wagon top, the latter being fitted seamlessly from the windshield back. The body was channeled 3in over frame, the door handles were shaved and a remote entry system was installed. The 283ci engine is mated to a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission through to a 12-bolt 3:08 non-posi rear end. This custom benefits from power steering, power windows, disc brakes at all four corners, air conditioning, cruise control, and many more custom details. Underneath, the entire frame, front and rear ends have all been treated to a powder coated finish. The leather interior was designed and made by the highly renowned George Frank, with custom installed consoles and stereo system. This reliable street-rod is ready to show and go.
